WORKSHOPS 2022

*PLEASE NOTE CHANGES TO ADVERTISED WORKSHOPS AS OF 12/05/22*
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Suzanne now cannot make the festival this year, and we’ve had to cancel the dancing workshop. But the good news is… SINGING IS ON! We’ve had a rethink, and in light of times being hard (post-pandemic, tightening of purse strings etc) we really want to offer something that EVERYONE can access for pure enjoyment. So whilst every other household price is going UP, ours is coming DOWN – down to a FREE workshop that is! We want to host a weekend where (in the wise words of Baloo) you can ‘forget about your worries and your strife’ and come along just to FEEL GOOD. No need to book, just turn up and we’ll do the rest!

As always, donations are welcome, to help keep this musical boat afloat.
Musicians, don’t stress – we’ll have instrument workshops back for 2023!

APPALACHIAN CLOG Dancing

WITH SUZANNE AMBROSE (NO CLOGS REQUIRED!)

@ASTLEY HALL

‘Suzanne makes it so easy to learn.’
‘First time clog-dancing… great fun!’
‘I just wanted to keep on dancing!’

Music and dance is integral to the history of the settlers in Appalachia and we’re ECSTATIC to bring DANCE to the festival workshops for the first time with Suzanne Ambrose, who’s been Clogging / Flatfooting for over 22 years.  Based in Cumbria, she was the 2015 champion flatfooting dancer at Clifftop, West Virginia and regularly performs solo and with dance group Legs Levens. She’ll show you steps from the APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS and put them into a dance during the workshop – just TRY stopping yourself with your new moves at the Crofters later on! Footwear? Smooth soled shoes or tap shoes are good, but don’t worry if they’re not to hand, just come in whatever you’re wearing. No experience necessary – this is guaranteed FUN for everyone! Bring yer friends, kids, grandpaw… it’ll be like a good ol’ parlour party!
